Abstract

This research investigates the senses and reaches the interpretive work of the Brazilian essayist Gilda de Mello e Souza (1919-2005). It is intended to discuss sociologically the critical possibilities that are articulated around the sense of formation and sense of form. It seeks to understand how these notions are articulated in the author's essays from two main fronts: 1) the recording of the formation process from the artistic formalization; 2) the formal difficulty of nuanced art between European perceptual models and local matter. In view of this research horizon, the analysis aims to investigate how Gilda de Mello e Souza operates the articulation between art and society, exploring the hypothesis that the author finds in the "world of forms" an important analytical key for the understanding of social processes.
