Abstract

This project is part of a Ph.D. research that mixes cross-docking decisions with the vehicle routing problem for retailer networks. Two mathematical formulations have already been developed to model this problem. Computational tests showed that only instances with a few customers can be solved in reasonable time. Therefore, the objectives of this stage of the research are to develop a strategy to improve dual bounds and a solution method to solve large instances. We intend to develop this project with the collaboration of Professor Costa, who has considerable expertise in integer programming models and in solution approaches.
