Abstract

This proposal consists of a research internship at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) under the mentoring of Professor Justin Parkhurst from November 2017 to April 2018. The academic action plan prioritizes the research project development; the main objective is to improve my knowledge of evidence-based policy to support the analysis of the preliminary results of the doctoral research and consolidate academic collaboration among research centers. Two sources of evidence will be used: documents and interviews, due to the importance of working on the two levels of reality: written and discursive records. The integration of the different sources allows a broader understanding of the reality. The interviews will be transcribed and content analysis will be performed. The analysis of the documents (¨CONITEC Recommendation Reports¨) has shown that most of the reports recommending the incorporation of technologies into the public health system presented partial health economic evaluations (HEE). There are few reports that show a complete health economic evaluation; even though, this is an explicit criterion in formal documents. Use of scientific knowledge, probably, was not an essential criterion for technology incorporation in the Brazilian public health system (SUS). In this sense, comprehending the implementation process of the use of scientific knowledge in health technology incorporation could be important to better understand the Brazilian context. (AU)
