Abstract

The world-renowned Russian actor and theater pedagogue Konstantin Stanislavsky (1863 - 1938) ran the Opera-Drama Studio out of his own house and under the auspices of the soviet ministry of Culture from the years 1935 to 1938, the year of his death. The Studio era became known for the delivery of the method of physical actions -- the last and less known of Stanislavsky's pedagogical approaches -- and also for being a period during which the Russian director led a complete revolution in his understanding of the actor's work and practices. The research The Last Stanislavsky in Action: Translation And Analysis of the Opera-Drama Studio Experiences (1935 - 1938) focuses on exploring the director's work at this specific moment, and on translating original documents from this process into Portuguese. Since 2016, there have been considerable obstacles during the researcher's attempts at accessing the material concerning Stanislavsky's work at the Studio, once most of it is kept at the Moscow Art Theater Museum Archives, in Russia, and none of it has been published to the present date.In this way, this project aims for a four-month internship in Russia, with the goal of researching, selecting and translating unpublished stenographic transcripts, manuscripts and journals from the Moscow Art Theater Museum Archives. The innovative aspect of this project lies in that the materials to be researched haven't been explored or published even in Russia. Therefore, I believe its realization would be of great contribution to the study fields of theater practice, Russian theater and Russian culture in Brazil. Keywords: Stanislavsky, Theater, Russian theater.
