Abstract

The emergence of developed urban areas and the technological breakthroughs have generated an intense modification of the social, political, cultural and economic structures, originating new forms of experimentation, which changed the way human beings socialized and related to space. Therefore, the aim of the present project is apprehend and analyze Robert Louis Stevenson's literary procedures and investigate trough two of his novels - The Suicide Club (1882), Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) and also some of his essays - the representation of the British society and the reverberation and dialogue established by those discursive means within the context of the late 19th century.
