Abstract

Alzheimer's disease has a major impact on the family structure, resulting in a series of complications for informal caregivers. Among them, impairment in cognitive performance, which can directly affect the quality of life of these individuals, establishing the need for support programs. For this reason, the main objective of this study is to evaluate and analyze the cognitive training effects on cognition, anxiety, stress and overload in caregivers of elderly people with Alzheimer's disease. It is a randomized clinical trial, with control group and pre and post-intervention evaluation. The research will be conducted in the municipality of São Carlos, located in the State of São Paulo, with informal caregivers of elderly people diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Data collection will be performed through an individual interview, at a date and time previously scheduled. The following instruments will be used: a questionnaire characterizing caregivers, Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-Revised (ACE-R), Perceived Stress Scale, Beck Depression and Anxiety Inventory, and Zarit's Overload Scale. All ethical care will be observed during the data collection and analysis process. (AU)
