Abstract

This research aims to develop a detailed study on the Principle of Identity of Indiscernibles (PII) and present an innovativedefense for this principle showing that the counter-examples presented by Black and his successors are not coherent with our intuitions regarding the most fundamental notions of our spacial representation faculty. At the first stage, it is intended to make a commented exposition of the PII. At the second stage, it is intended to make a very careful analysis of the arguments contrary and favorable to the PII testing their soundness. At last, it is intended to exhibit an argumentative line in favor of the PII different from the ones presented before. This new argumentative line aims to avoid the use of obscure notions like haecceity and possible worlds, making the defense of the PII less vulnerable to atacks. For that, we shall make use only of very fundamental notions of our faculty of conceivability, e.g. space, symmetry and logical possibility. (AU)
