Abstract

Invisible aligners appeared in the 90's with the aim of revolutionizing dental treatment, the search for corrective options that show less influence on esthetics led to a great interest in this technology by patients,who over time came to understand the benefits of a balanced occlusion brings to health and social wellbeing.Since clear aligners are orthodontic appliances and by that their use will consequently increase and modify the resident microbiota of the oral cavity during treatment, it is necessary that an effective cleaning methodology be evaluated and instituted in order to prevent this modification causing discomforts and the settlement of opportunistic infections in the patient. Thus, the objective of this research project will be, through quantitative and qualitative microbiological evaluation, to evaluate the efficacy that different cleaning methods present in the biofilm removal of Candida albicans from the surface of invisible aligners.
