Abstract

Linear induction electric motors are devices that allow the production of direct linear motion without the need converters that decrease system performance, increase maintenance, volume and mechanical noise. In addition, they have as good characteristics of their rotary devices, as robustness, low cost of production and high reliability. However, due to its construction they have a non-uniform distribution of the air-gap flux density and low power factor. Thus, the objective of this work is to study the behavior of the linear induction motor power factor of doublel sided induction motor under various operating characteristics and compare with results of traditional mathematical models and verify their disparities. To do this, use a linear flat motor available in the laboratory for power factor data acquisition and compare with results from mathematical models developed from the traditional rotary induction motors and, suggest adaptations to a correction of the model from the One-Dimensional Analysis.
