Abstract The objective of this study will be to evaluate, through in vitro study, the effect of chemical hygienic solutions on the adverse effects on thermally activated acrylic disc-shaped (15 mm x 3 mm), rectangular (65 x 10 x 3.3 mm) and discoid (50 mm x 0.5 mm) matrices and immersed in the following solutions (n = 20): Group I - Distilled water (control); Group II - Castor solution 6.25%; Group III - Sodium hypochlorite 0.2%; Group IV - Alkaline Peroxide Efferdent® Power Clean Crystals, simulating short immersions per sanitation period of 05 years. Before and after the immersions, they will be evaluated for color change (Color Guide Color Guide 45/0) and correlation of the data according to NBS units (NBS = E * x 0,92); Knoop hardness (Microhardness Microhardness Tester Shimadzu); of surface roughness (Surftest SJ-201P rugosimeter, Mitutoyo Corporation); of surface morphology (3D Olympus LEXT OLS4000® laser confocal microscope, Japan); of the flexural strength (Universal Testing Machine DL 2000, EMIC); (AIC - EMIC, São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, Brazil) and the sorption and solubility (vacuum desiccator Pyrex, USA).
