Abstract

This project refers to my research as a foreign internship student at the University of Leiden. This period of study and investigation in the Netherlands will be a continuation of my dissertation (Master's degree), currently funded by FAPESP. The internship, already foreseen in the original project, will be essential to its improvement, since it will allow me to access primary sources and specialized literature not available in Brazil. Furthermore, I will be supervised by Michiel van Groesen, professor of Maritime History at Leiden and one of the foremost specialists in Public Opinion and Atlantic News disseminated in the Dutch Republic. Therefore, my research on the Dutch pictorial representation of wars - concerning the West-Indische Compagnie and the Atlantic World in the seventeenth century - will certainly benefit from this academic environment.
