Abstract

This scientific project is about a systematic study to verify the existence of a new Hexagonal Laves phase in the Hf-V-Ga ternary system. The preliminary results presented in this scientific project show the existence of a superconducting phase with critical transition temperature close to 11.0 K. The preliminary X-ray diffraction results show that this new superconducting phase crystallizes in a Hexagonal Laves phase with MgZn2 prototype structure, also called the C14. Thus, in addition to the original results and the proposal of a new phase, this work aims to complement the training of the candidate for this scholarship, with regard to Materials science and learning in the area of superconductivity.
