Abstract

The discussion on health care for the transsexual and transvestite population in the academy brings together some advances, but it is still possible to identify gaps and challenges in research on this specific care line. Regarding trans children and adolescents in the Brazilian context, it is noted a lack of qualified data on this issue in the field of health. Thus, the objective of the present study is to investigate the conceptions and meanings that constitute the categories of trans "child" and "adolescent" and guide the care practices elaborated by health professionals who work or have already worked in health care for children and adolescents trans. This is a qualitative research, prioritizing the ethnographic method, with in-depth interviews with health professionals identified from the contact with services that integrate the network of specific care to the trans population. We are seeking for a dense description of the meanings that support these care practices, taking into account the specificities of the contexts where the professionals work and the relationships between the actors involved in the spaces for the elaboration of care practices. The field information is going to be analyzed according to the interpretive perspective, which leads to the analysis of the 'social discourse'. (AU)
