Abstract

Propene is very important for the petrochemical industry because it serve as raw material for many manufactured products. The oxidative dehydrogenation of propane (ODH) is a promising way for propene production, mostly because unlike others methods it requires a low demand of energy. Heterogeneous catalyst, mainly vanadium and molybdenum based, have a great influence over this reaction because they can improve the selectivity and yield of propane ODH. Furthermore, the presence of acid and basic sites over the surface interfere in the reaction of ODH because olefins desorption enhance in basic environments and as consequence boost propene selectivity. The alkaline earth metals, like strontium, have notable basic proprieties and can optimize the reaction. This project have as objective evaluate the catalyst V-Mo-Sr supported in transition alumina and study the catalytic proprieties in the decomposition of isopropanol for the production of propene, due to propene significance for the petrochemical industry. The methods that will be utilized in this study are X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and the decomposition of isopropanol to evaluate the acid and/or basic proprieties of the catalyst.
