Abstract

Cryptococcus spp. is an encapsulated yeast of great importance in human and veterinary medicine because it is the causative agent of cryptococcosis. It belongs to the Eucarya Domain, Kingdom Fungi Philum Basidiomycota and class Basideomycetes, the genus has about 35 species, and the main ones of medical importance are Cryptococcus neoformans and Cryptococcus gatti. A causative agent of cryptococcosis, it can lead from cutaneous to systemic lesions, mainly in immunosuppressed individuals, which can affect the central nervous system and the lungs of humans and other animals leading to death.It is intended to evaluate the colonization of the nasal cavity of 100 wild animals which were rescued and sent to CEMPAS / FMVZ / UNESP.
