Abstract

The cancer diagnosis, as well his treatment and changes in the routine's life it provokes, can be a troubled process, with triggering emotions that are not always desirable, which may affect patients' quality of life. Playful activities can help the treatment of children's with cancer, however, in the case of adults, it still needs to be studied. Thus, the aim of this study is to check emotions while waiting for procedures in the ambulatory, before and after the practice of playful activities, as well to verify the patients' quality of life. It is a field research, where patients are randomly approached in the ambulatory. Patients with clinical history of cancer, aged 40 years or older, both sex will be included. Data about age, sex, type of cancer and treatment will be take in an datasheet. A framework with the icons of universal emotions will be used to indicate the felt emotion; the quality of life will be access with the WHOQOL-Bref instrument. The data collected will receive statistical treatment. Those data may help design improvements in the ambulatory while waiting for treatment of cancer. It is intended to disseminate the results obtained in scientific congresses and publish articles in qualified journals. (AU)
