Abstract

IaaS providers are remunerated for the use of their resources and for the differentiation of the services that they offer to their consumers. Thus, a basic goal of any IaaS provider is to maximize the utilization of its infrastructure, or in other words, to minimize its idleness. The federated operation of a group of cloud computing providers is one of the proposed ways for them to be able to operate together more efficiently, with cloudbursting between providers. Proper management of such workload cloudbursting is crucial for the federation as a whole to operate more efficiently. Two aspects are fundamental to the viability of the federation of providers: the existence of mechanisms for the provision of federated services, and the definition of adequate business models. The implementation of this work plan will study and propose alternatives for the provision of federated services. (AU)
