Abstract

Trafficking in persons and contemporary slave labor are transnational crimes with one of the worst forms of violation of Human Rights. The historic-legislative evolution of trafficking in persons shows the way how the global society has developed to face this offense. Since the period of the slave trade to the present moment, there was an intense legislative development about this topic, with a great diversity of conducts that were typified in both international and national laws and treaties, aside from the support of public politics. However, these continuous efforts still are not enough to eradicate this secular crime. This research aim to analyze the historic evolution of international legislation and observe the reflexes in Brazilian law, noticing how public politics of combat are formulated and how the crime concern society according to real statistic data. That will be performed through an analysis of legislations, bibliographic research and media reports concerning the theme with a modern emphasis, in addition to a statistic approach, aiming a better contextualization to obtain a critical view of trafficking in persons in both global and Brazilian levels.
