Abstract

The project arises from the need to compare the practise of the reuse of spolia in Sicily with another contest in the Mediterranean area. Although the reuse is a very spread practise in many regions, it has its peculiarities depending on the environment and the chronological period. For this reasons the comparison whit loci similes is unavoidable. The research on Sicily, in fact, has constantly taken into consideration the comparison with Rome, the main centre of reuse in late Antiquity but to understand the origin of the practise it is basic to analyse the reuse of spolia in Athens during the late-Antiquity very early compared to Rome and nowadays almost unknown.
