Abstract

Today, single point incremental forming occupies an important space among the conformation processes since that is possible to generate the most varied geometries. Parameters, simulations and results of the process are practically consolidated when metal sheets are used, but when it comes to other materials, there is still a lack of studies. Considering the importance of the polymers in the roll of the engineering materials, the study proposes to deepen the knowledge about the process of forming of these materials. The polymers show very distinct mechanical behavior of the metals since the speed of application strongly influences the results obtained. In this way, it is proposed to investigate the strains obtained by the process of incremental sheet forming of PVC and PC sheets of thickness of 3mm by the circle grid analysis; it will be compared the results obtained experimentally with those predicted by the finite element analysis with the aid of ABAQUS software and finally, the results obtained for the PVC and PC will be compared.
