Abstract

The plan of activities proposed here for the scientific initiation fellow is justified by the need to establish relationships between data recorded in the oral reports of workers and information on the exposure to agrochemical contaminants already represented cartographically in the synthesis map prepared by the Thematic Project team. It will also be an opportunity to train new researchers to understand and act on this contrasting and contradictory reality. To this end, it will be necessary to understand the contradictory process engendered by capital that triggers mechanisms that weaken the living and working situation of the workers involved in the agricultural stages of the sugarcane agroindustry, while at the same time intensifying the degradation of living conditions and negatively impacting on the health of precarious rural workers subjected to extensive journeys and overexploitation.
