Abstract

The following work intends to build a hermeneutics, analyze the scope and the actuality of the Weberian diagnosis of modernity from a post-Marxist political perspective. In that sense, the first movement will be to reconstruct a reading by Max Weber that allows us to approximate it from the political analysis of discourse and the theory of hegemony. Then, within the framework of that recovery of Weber's comprehensive sociology from a post-Marxist theoretical perspective, we will interpret his diagnosis of modernity - the main challenges, dangers and aporias around the disenchantment of the world and the loss of freedom - in such a way to be able to analyze its scope and relevance within the framework of contemporary democratic societies. The general question that guides the investigation is the following: Why and in what way a post-Marxist reading of the Weberian diagnosis of modernity can help us in understanding the specificities of the current scenario and political dynamics of Western democratic societies?
