Abstract

The present research project of scientific initiation has the central theme of collecting. It is intended to develop a new look at the collections in the ambit of Librarianship, inquiring about their origins and the threads coming from their institutionalization. The general objective of the research is to verify the associative relations between collectivism, more specifically bibliographical collectivism, and Librarianship. The proposal is to carry out a research of a qualitative nature, with a theoretical-bibliographic approach, with a descriptive exploratory purpose. The collected material will be analyzed from the perspective of the Content analysis proposed by Bardin. The aim of this research is to look for epistemological aspects of collectivism in the area of Information Science, capable of encompassing not only libraries, but also archives and museums; stimulate the theoretical debate on the theme; to contribute with a scientific reflection on the epistemological bases of the libraries, and consequently of Librarianship and the librarian profession.
