Abstract

The Tamengo Formation, a unit of the upper portion of the Corumbá Group (Ediacarano), has been of great interest for geochemical investigations, in addition to its already known paleontological potential. These geochemical investigations have been carried out in order to understand the global changes that preceded the diversification of Cambrian life. For this, the study of its deposition environments and the relation with the geochemical data, notably isotopes of C and O, have been detailed. In the present project of Scientific Initiation, the specific objective is to detail the study of basal polymorphic breccia positioned stratigraphically in the base of the Tamengo Formation, in order to better characterize its sedimentary context and, mainly, to verify if it would be response of local, regional event or even global. Therefore, for a complete analysis, besides the investigation of isotopes of C and O, petrographic descriptions, as well as the interpretation of the sedimentary processes involved in the deposition will be carried out.
