Abstract According to recent studies on galaxy formation, every galaxy forms within a dark matterhalo. The study of how formation and growth of galaxies over time is connected to thegrowth of the halos in which they form is designated as halo-galaxy connection. The adventof large galaxy surveys as well as high-resolution cosmological simulations are providing newinsight into the statistical relationship between galaxies and halos and its evolution. Theobjective of this Scientific Initiation project is to make the student acquainted with the basictools and methods related to halo-galaxy connection, such as SAMs and multi-(LSS)tracermethods. Therefore she can contribute to solving key open questions about how galaxiesand halos are connected, including understanding the correlations with secondary propertiesand the connection of these properties to galaxy clustering. | |
