Abstract

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a promising class of materials and have drawn attention from researchers all over the globe, mainly because of recent environmental issues. In this proposal, new strategies to synthesize stable MOFs with large surface areas will be developed. Paramagnetic ions from first-row transition series will be used because of their different geometries and interesting magnetism. Triazole ligands will be used to connect those ions because of their rigidity and different modes of coordination, which can give rise to impressive topologies. If necessary, the synthesized MOFs will be modified. These novel materials will be characterized by spectroscopic methods and will have their magnetism studied. At last, their capacity to adsorb gases will be assessed through adsorption isotherms. (AU)
