Development and validity evidence of an acquiescence index for the career Adapt-Abilities scale

Abstract

Several researches have consistently indicated for the ceiling effect of the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS), that is, high scores on most items. This fact suggests that the instrument may be providing a skewed assessment, among other things, for the response style of response. Acquiescence is the tendency of the individual to agree to an item, regardless of its content. Furthermore, in the Brazilian context, in contrast to international research, there are no records of studies that aimed to test a predictive model formed by adaptive readings and adaptive resources on adaptive responses. Therefore, the objective of this project will be to develop and seek evidence of validity for an assessment index of acquiescence for CAAS. As well as, it is intended to test the predictive model formed by the Big Five dimensions and the career adaptability on well-being at work, without and with the control of acquiescence. Initially, items will be constructed to represent opposing pairs of the CAAS items, and these will be evaluated by expert judges in the area, in relation to the semantics and dimension evaluated. The empirical collection will be composed of 500 working adults. Participants should respond to the socio-demographic questionnaire, CAAS, Big Five Inventory (BFI 2), Scale of Satisfaction at Work-Reduced (EST-R), Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9), Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo - CESQT e Dutch Work Addiction Scale (DUWAS). The project will be sent to the Ethics Committee in Research and after approval the collection will occur in presential (n = 250) and online (n = 250). The data will be analyzed through the statistical programs SPSS 21, Factor 18.8.02 and Mplus 7, in order to achieve the project objectives.
