Abstract

This project has the objective of analyzing the effects caused by solar photovoltaic distributed generation on grid and spot distribution networks. This investigation is based on the fact that grid/spot networks are used to supply electricity to big customers or group of customers with high electric demand, with high reliability levels. But the increasingly insertion of distributed generation (DG, may jeopardize this aspect. The main negative effects reported, when DG is present at grid networks, are: occurrence of overvoltage at low demand moments and improper performance of the network protectors when reverse power flow, caused by the DG, occurs. This way, a proper modeling for the solar panels and their appropriate connection to the grid is needed, being both of these, the main focus of this project. With the proper model, the above mentioned aspects, as well as any others that may appear, caused by the insertion of DG, will be analyzed in detail. This project is part of a bigger proposal that aims to find solutions to the cited problems and any others that may come throughout the research. Thus, it is expected to contribute with a reliable model for the solar panels and their impacts when inserted into the grid/spot network.
