Abstract

The student will spend 6 months in the York University (Toronto, Canada), studying set theory techniques and concepts useful in general topology and topological algebra. He will be under supervision of Professor Paul J. Szeptycki, an active researcher in general topology and set theory. The student will meet regularly with Professor Szeptycki to discuss problems and selected topics to learn and become used to new methods and concepts. Szeptycki is the organizer of the Toronto Set Theory Seminar, which is held in the Fields Institute throughout the year and receives participants from not only the York University and the University of Toronto, but also from various research institutes around the world. The contact with this large group of topology and set theory students and researchers shall have a very positive impact on the student's academic development and maturity, furthering his research activities by the conclusion of the project and opening channels for future collaborations with the Toronto group.
