Abstract

The present study aims to characterize and analyze the episodes of febrile neutropenia, infectious agents, treatment phase, prophylaxis, mortality and the causes of death after the first induction of remission, in patients affected by acute myeloid leukemia, from secondary data of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto-USP, from 2012 to 2017. This is a retrospective and descriptive study, in which the data collection will be based on a patient information survey, according to the with diagnostic data, treatment, complications, evolution, response to treatment, prophylaxis and mortality. The inclusion criteria will be: adult patients, diagnosis of acute myelogenous leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome and treatment with myelosuppressive chemotherapy; and the exclusion criteria will be: patients under 18 years of age and treatment with non-myelosuppressive chemotherapy. Data analysis will map the frequency of infectious complications by the proposed treatment, treatment phase, their cycles and mortality. Continuous variables will be described by means of the median value and their variance by the interquartile ranges. Categorical variables will be described by frequency. The evaluation of the variables: age, gender, white blood cells at the time of diagnosis, risk group according to the ELN, absolute number of neutrophils at the time of diagnosis and the risk of developing episodes of febrile neutropenia will be performed using the Poisson regression model.
