Abstract

The present project aims to collect rheological data based on rheometry of concentric cylinders of different ionic liquids for subsequent incorporation in IPCC based on Nafion® and platinum electrodes, in addition to the study of the ionic liquid retention in this composite based on the ionic test liquid intake. The intention is that the use of ionic liquids will be able to inhibit the dependence of environmental conditions on the performance of the IPMC, such as relative humidity. For this purpose, shear rate viscosity studies of ionic liquids at different temperatures in a rheometer with concentric cylindrical geometry and ionic liquid intake measurements at different temperatures through direct weighing will be done. These measurements will be usefull to establish a temperature range in which it is possible to use of IPMC with incorporated ionic liquid without affecting its performance. The characterization of IPMC with incorporated ionic liquid will be done by DMA, with frequency variation, that is, through mechanical spectroscopy. The incorporation protocol of the ionic liquids will follow the method developed by Kikuchi.
