Abstract

Small-for-Size (SFS) syndrome develops after liver transplantation or an enlarged liver resection. It is the fundamental obstacle for the clinical use of partial liver grafts and for the accomplishment of extensive liver resections in cases of intrahepatic and hilar tumors. The rapid and excessive proliferation of hepatocytes has severe changes in tissue microstructure, which makes this liver mass regenerated without proper functioning, and this phenomenon is decisive in the pathogenesis of SFS syndrome. Studies may offer the opportunity to define not only where the limits are to perform transplantation with partial graft safely, as well as better hemodynamic evaluation. The objective of this work will be to evaluate and establish a clinical study of hemodynamics and portal modulation in liver transplantation and porto-cava anastomosis.
