Abstract

It is possible to obtain anatomical images through the magnetic resonance technique, which allows us to evaluate the central nervous system, without prejudice to the individual. Thus, there are several studies that use this technique to evaluate brain damage in neurological diseases. Among these diseases, some are known for their phenotypic heterogeneity, which may lead to different patterns of cortical damage among individuals. However, the lack of normative values from magnetic resonance imaging makes it difficult to assess these damages. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to propose a normalized value of cortical thickness of healthy individuals, taking into account effects of gender and age and head size. With the standard values of cortical thickness, it is possible to relate variations of cortical thickness to neurological diseases.
