Abstract

The southern two-toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus) is a mammal with a restricted distribution to South America, belonging to the Xenarthras superorder, pilous order, Megalonychidae family, Choloepus genus. For the present study will be used 8 adults animals, 4 males and 4 females, who death by natural causes, from the Bosque Rodrigues Alves Botanical Garden, in Belém, Pará, donated under cryopreservation to the Animal Morphological Research Laboratory (LaPMA) of the Federal Rural University of Amazonia (UFRA) this project is authorized by SISBIO n° 23401. The respiratory system consists of: nose, nasopharynx, nasal cavities, trachea, larynx, bronchi, bronchioles, alveolar ducts, alveolar sacs and pulmonary alveoli. This research will be describe and analyse the macroscopic and microscopic anatomy of the Choloepus didactylus respiratory system.
