Abstract

The increase of air temperature in the cities, due to the urban heat islands phenomena make the demanded of electricity for air conditioning higher. Looking for reduce this energy consumption, were developed materials with characteristics as high reflectance and high emittance, known as cool surfaces. Due the lost of reflectance by external agents, this paper aims to verify the relationship between the increase in roughness by microbial growth and the lost of reflectance in cool paints. For that, will be made tests for reflectance analysis with a portable reflectometer, digital microscopy to evaluate the biofilm and roughness analysis in the following situations: after 3 years of exposure, after washing with hydro blasting and in not exposed samples. These tests will be made in samples exposed for 3 years by the Brazilian Consortium of Cool Surfaces in 3 cities: São Paulo - SP, Pirassununga - SP and Belém - PA.
