Abstract

This research project aims to identify intellectual dialogues between writings produced by Italian architect Lina Bo Bardi and two sets of films today known as Caravana Farkas. Lina Bo Bardi's contact with filmmakers Thomaz Farkas, Geraldo Sarno and Paulo Gil Soares during the foundation of São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) and Museum of Modern Art of Bahia (MAMB), between 1947 and 1971, will be analyzed through bibliographic sources, historical documents and texts written by the main subjects of the research. In this way, it is sought to establish correspondences between the films that figure in Brasil Verdade (1964), the series A Condição Brasileira (1969) and the architect's texts from her arrival in Brazil until 1971, focusing on their thematic choices and didactic goals. The intellectual production of Lina Bo Bardi and the filmmakers will be approached considering the social networks formed around the two museums. Historiographic narrative will be marked by the broader context of theoretical discussion of modernity in Brazil, with the construction of Brasilia as a key episode. The meanings and paths thought by the artists in question for national industrialization must permeate the proposed research, in dialogue with authors contemporary and ulterior to the historical period studied.
