Abstract

The prosthesis drive is a very important part of an active prosthesis. In order to achieve a more intuitive, more precise and higher capacity actuation, a system of upper limb prosthesis will be developed using the MYO Armband gesture recognition device. It is a device composed of eight sEMG reading channels (surface electromyography) and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) with nine axes, capable of identifying spatial positioning and also recognizing dynamic rotational movements. The signs will be captured in real time and used in the decision to activate the prosthesis. The communication will be wireless, Bluetooth BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), allowing a free realization of movements and gestures on the part of the protetizado. This system will be part of the PhD work, in which a new upper limb prosthesis is being developed. It is a UNESP project from Ilha Solteira, in partnership with UNICAMP.
