Abstract

The branches of commercial activities and services are relevant for understanding new relations between consumption, urban restructuring and restructuring of middle cities. For that, restructuring of Brazilian cities has, as one of its many determinations, several elements that redefine their morphologies. The branches of commercial activities and services, especially those that can be classified as responsible for productive consumption (commercial and service companies associated with the industrial sector and / or with agribusiness, both those with a strong participation of external capital and those managed by local capital) can be considered as responsible for the absorption of an urban space portion and, as such, are responsible for restructuring the city. This research aims, on the one hand, to map locational choices of companies responsible for productive consumption in Brazil, with emphasis on the cities studied by the thematic project, thus evaluating the strategies adopted within the urban network and, on the other hand, to verify how are the choices on the scale of the city.
