Abstract

The aspect that differentiate a quantum system and a classical system allow us to think of many applications in information theory. The quantum information and quantum communication study how to use quantum systems to implement information processes. An experimental setup used to generate quantum states for quantum information is based on the Spontaneous parametric down-conversion, where a laser pumped a non-linear media and one pump photon is converted to a twin-photon pair spontaneously. This process can generate quantum correlations used in many quantum information process that is not possible for a classical state. In this project, we have the generation of twin-photon correlated in polarization degree of freedom from a source bought by the Laboratório de Espectroscopia Óptica e Eletrônica. Our first step is to characterize the source. This can be done by quantum tomography, in which the density matrix is reconstructed by a finite set of measurements. Moreover the quantum correlation can be characterized by a Bell's inequality.
