Abstract

A case study of London´s International Exhibition of 1862, aiming to analyze the internationalization artistic production in the realm of large scale perennial exhibitions of contemporary art. By searching the origin of the inclusion of Brazil and the artistic production of the country in the large scale exhibitions abroad, the project investigates how Southern modernity was presented in a transnational context. The investigation aims to analyze from an archaeological point of view the current debates about the globalization of contemporary art and its exhibitions in biennials.
