Abstract

Urban trees are fundamental to the quality of life in urban centers. However, there are often incidents caused by lack of planning, poor management or problems in the planting sites of these trees, causing poor root development. The objective of this research was to evaluate the influence of soil conditions on the distribution of the root system, considering trees of the same species planted in different types of paving. Planting conditions, such as permeable area of land, physical barriers, underground power grid interference or conflict with buildings and trunk diameters will be taken into account in order to quantify the correlation between these parameters and the condition of the soil and, consequently, root distribution. Therefore, it is hoped to establish quantitative parameters of the influence of the conditions of the site in the distribution of the root system of trees of species used in urban areas, since, in general, the literature only cites this influence in a qualitative way.
