Abstract

This scientific project brings as proposal the implementation of a circuit focusing on a CC output adjustable voltage from the AC line using a controlled two-quadrant chopper with output feedback signal. Its main purpose is to replace the Variac used in test benches (essentially electric motors), improving output control stability, decreasing weight, increasing durability, efficiency and providing significant cutback in electro-mechanic devices which are used in a common Variac, as this circuit will be made in general with solid state components. Moreover, such project will be carried out with protection against short-circuit, overvoltage, and overcurrent, in order to avoid damage to the equipment/machines which are going to be connected to the converter.
