Abstract

In 2014 the 2nd edition of the Dietary Guidelines for the Brazilian Population was launched. After four years since then, assessing the adherence of the population to its recommendations is important to subsidize implementation actions, as well as the future debate about new editions. Objective: to study the adherence of Brazilian adults to the recommendations of the Dietary Guidelines for the Brazilian Population. Methods: this project will be conducted under the Nutrinet-Brasil study, a cohort study that aims to follow trough Internet 200,000 Brazilians along ten years. A methodological study will be conducted for convergent validation of a multidimensional scale that aims to measure adherence to the recommendations of the Guide. The target audience of the scale is Brazilian adult population (18-60 y). A random sample of 200 adults among the Nutrinet cohort members will participate in this step. Scores of the participants in the scale will be compared to two indicators: the percentage share of ultraprocessed foods in the total of diet energy and an index of diet diversity (both obtained from 24 hours recall). Subsequently, a cross-sectional epidemiological study will be conducted with at least 1119 adults (minimum sample). In addition to the scale score, data of socio-economic, health and food consumption status will be also obtained and used. Multilevel regression analysis will be performed to determine the association between the adherence to the Guide and other variables, as well as multiple regression will be used to study the association between the same score and the quality of the dietary pattern. The analyses will be run in the Rstudio software. (AU)
