Abstract

In this research project, the main goal is to provide an updated literature review on modeling integrated of lot sizing problems. A secondary goal is to introduce new heuristic approaches for such integrated problems which can provide a high-quality solution in a small computational time. In particular, strategies based on heuristics will be addressed as, e.g., relax-and-fix, fix-and-optimize, and kernel search. The motivations to both proposals, besides possible contributions to the production planning field, are the involvement of the overseas supervisor that has important contributions in the literature to the modeling of related problems and the fact of the candidate had developed efficient proposals during her Masters studies and PhD thesis, to solve problems closely related to the problems studied in this project using the same aforementioned heuristic methods.
