Abstract

The removal of resinous laminate when retreatment becomes necessary presents a challenge to the clinician in an effort of preserving the dental substrates, so that it does not promote unnecessary wear on the surface of the enamel and dentin. Thus, the objective of this study will be to evaluate an auxiliary device that is used during the removal of resinous laminate by means of digital scanning. Forty-five specimens of bovine tooth (10 x 8 mm) will receive conservative preparations of laminates which will be divided into 3 groups (n = 15): removal without auxiliary device (W), removal with white LED (L) and removal with ultraviolet light (UV). Initial scanning (T0) of all specimens will be performed before the preparations for resinous laminate. Then the specimens will receive the typical preparation for composite resin laminate and they will be scanned again (T1) for standardization of the preparations. The dental surfaces will then be restored with adhesive system and composite resin. Removal of resinous laminate and re-preparation of specimens will be done by another operator and a new scan will be performed (T2). The volumetric change between T1 and T2 and the measurement of areas of dental wear and / or presence of composite resin residues will be performed through software. The data will be submitted to statistical tests of normality, homogeneity of variance and specific tests to verify the significance between means, considering pd 0.05.
