Abstract

Micro and nanomotors have emerged as new environmental remediation platforms, having as the main advantages: movement control in aqueous solution, high efficiency in the degradation of polluting substances and the possibility of reuse. The present project aims at developing micromotors based on nanostructured biomaterials fabricated according to the targets of interest. The micromotors development process includes: production of micromotors based on titanium dioxide (TiO2) in association with gold (Au) and nickel (Ni); surface modification of the micromotors with chitosan and tyrosinase and physicochemical and electrochemical characterization. In addition, the micromotors will be tested by emerging pollutants degradation in order to obtain a suitable environmental remediation application. The internship at Prof. Joseph Wang group will allow the candidate to learn new techniques and technologies for designing micro and nanomotors. The techniques and methodologies learned by the candidate during the internship period will be employed in him master degree term in Brazil upon return. (AU)
