Abstract

In this undergraduate research project the student will apply the knowledge acquired in previous studies in the analyses of the universal relations (independent of the equation of state) obtained recently for neutron stars. The I-Love-Q relation establishes the dependence between the moment of inertia, the Love number and the quadrupole moment as functions of the compactness of the star, independently of its equation of state. These relations will be tested for a generically parametrization of the equation of state, using constraints obtained from astrophysical observations. (AU)
