Abstract

Considering the several challenges for the functionalization of C-H bonds which are very unreactive and have adversities in selectivity with electrophilic reagents, the present research project proposes the use of first period transition metals for metal catalysis as a way of activating methylenic C-H bonds, without the oxidation of the corresponding alcohol to ketone. The first step is the synthesis of ligands associated with metals such as iron and manganese, which will then be evaluated for generality, selectivity and reactivity for oxidation of C(sp3)-H bonds. Finally, optimized catalytic conditions will be applied in the synthesis of products of interest to large areas of Chemistry and Biology. (AU)
