Abstract

In this work it is proposed the study of the Cu addition in the microstructure of a FeNiCoAlMn high-entropy alloy. The phases produced after the preparation of the FeNiCoAlMn and FeNiCoCuAlMn alloys, and the microstructural changes promoted by the Cu addition it will be evaluated by hardness measurements as a function of quenching temperature, X-ray diffraction, optical and scanning electron microscopies and X-ray dispersive energy spectroscopy. The results obtained in this study may contribute to the better understanding of the produced effects by the addition of a new element in the microstructure, solid solution formation and microhardness of high-entropy alloys. This should also allow a better discussion of the current theory about high-entropy alloys, expanding the academic knowledge of the candidate.
