Abstract

Suicide rates in childhood and adolescence have been increasing worldwide, including in Brazil, according scientific literature and media. The phenomenon is intentionally self-inflicted violence in which the person ends his own life and the suicide attempt differs by the outcome, which does not cause death. Objective. Understand the experience of children and adolescentes with suicidal behavior. Method. Qualitative study, to be carried out at the Child Psychiatry Clinico f the Psychiatry Department of the Federal University of São Paulo. Participants will bw children and adolescentes with suicidal behavior, aged bertween 7 and 18 years old, of both sexes. It shoud be noted that the Project already has a favorable opinion from the Research Ethics Committee. The data will be collected through an open, focused interview, recorded in digital media. Next, the interviews will be transcribed in full and the data will be organized and analyzed following the steps of Collective Subject Discourse. Future perspectives. It is believed that a deeper unterstanding of the experience of children and adolescentes with suicidal behavior can contribute to the planning of more assertive strategies, with a view to preventing suicide in this population.
